I've also played numerous other boards from Korg, Casio, and Yamaha, and don't like them as much as the ones I mentioned above (though Purgatory Creek also makes versions of their Rhodes that can be loaded into a MODX or Montage, which would likely improve how I would rank those boards for consideration). I don't like any Roland or Nord Rhodes as much as those others. They also have some lower end models that wouldn't have the Purgatory Creek option. The same sounds also in their PC4 and K2700, which have the hammer actions, though different ones from each other. with the addition of the downloadable Rhodes from Purgatory Creek. The 88s have the nicer action, but are too heavy for me to carry around! I didn't like the 73s originally, but they provided more velocity curve adjustment in later software updates, so now I'm very happy with them. If I were doing that comparison today, and wanted to include all my favorite Rhodes sounds in hardware, I'd add my Yamaha YC73 (same sounds also in the CP73, YC88, CP88). The Casio PX5S Rhodes sounds can also be loaded into their PX560. As mentioned in that thread, the SV1 sounds can be loaded into the SV2, and the SV2 adds some other nice ones of its own. The Vox is not available in a hammer action, but the Korg Nautilus 88 should have similar sounds (minus the tube) from an action similar to the SV2, though I haven't tried it myself yet.

I haven't used Lounge Lizard, but to me, that Juno DS is not in the same league as Korg SV2 or its SV1 predecessor (having played all of them, though the Juno only from a non-hammer action).Īlso, check the thread at https:/ / / / ubbthreads.php/ topics/ 3119541.html - That's my demo of playing the SV1, Casio PX5S, and Vox Continental, which I found to be some of the most enjoyable boards to play Rhodes from.
